Rio de Janeiro – RJ
Description
Rio de Janeiro, the most famous Brazilian city abroad, is famous for its happy people, eager for the sun, the beach, football and samba. But Rio goes far beyond that: it has history. Becoming the seat of the colony, shelter of the Portuguese court and later the capital of Brazil was essential for not only the city itself but also the whole country to develop in different aspects.
The city of Rio de Janeiro is expensive in Brazil; it concentrates in itself everything that a city of the highest standard can offer: many restaurants, theater plays, cultural tours, good nightlife, shopping, wooded areas for outdoor walks, it is the headquarters of large companies, it is the second largest metropolis in the country and of course it has stunning beaches. It is the very miscegenation of the culture of the Brazilian people. Rio’s most famous landmark, Christ the Redeemer, was included as one of the new seven wonders of the world. And there’s much more to do, see and revisit if you’re passing through the city on a new occasion.
Admiring the view from Sugarloaf Mountain, cycling through Ipanema, relaxing in the Botanical Garden, having a coffee at Copacabana Fort, enjoying the night in Lapa and strolling through the interactive Museum of Tomorrow are some of the dozens of attractions that Rio has in store for its visitors who like more traditional walks. All this not to mention the great events that Rio hosts, such as the Carnival of the samba schools and street blocks, and New Year’s Eve, with a fireworks display that brings together millions of people!
