Gramado and Canela
Description
Gramado, in Rio Grande do Sul State, is the main winter destination in Brazil and this title is well deserved. Anyone who thinks that the city, being small, doesn’t have much to offer is wrong, on the contrary. There are several parks, museums, restaurants and attractions of all kinds, which make Gramado a suitable destination for people of all ages and in search of all kinds of trips. Whether for a moment for two, family trip or with children, Gramado will certainly impress you!
Small Gramado is just 115 km from Porto Alegre and the journey to the city is easy, whether by rented car or hired transport. The ideal is to dedicate a few days to the trip so that you don’t just get stuck in Gramado and also discover the charms of Canela, the neighboring town that is just 7 km away. The two cities function as one, such is the interaction between them.
Get ready, because Gramado has more and more activities and in a few days there you won’t be able to do everything. The ideal is to think about which tours to do before you even travel.
Gramado and Canela leave their visitors amazed by the architecture typical of European colonization, by the gastronomy and by the enormous variety of tours. There are so many different attractions that it’s even difficult to create an itinerary for a few days without leaving anything out. The truth is that you can visit Gramado over and over again, always discovering something new.
Traveling to the region is like being in a country town, but with all the structure of a big city: cultural events, banks, shops and top quality restaurants are present there. Not to mention the mild climate, delicious for a hot chocolate, and the events that the city hosts, such as Natal Luz, which takes place annually and leaves the city all decorated for Christmas.
By the way, if the intention is to maintain a diet during the trip, it is already good to know that it will be difficult to fulfill this mission, such are the “temptations” that you will find. Fondue sequences are a striking feature of the local cuisine, as well as pastas, meats, chicken houses and artisanal chocolates of the most diverse qualities. Gramado is a destination that can be visited all year round and each season has a different charm. There is no bad time to visit the city, which is always busy on holidays and school vacation periods.
The region’s climate, influenced by the mountains, is cooler, especially at night, so always pack a coat in your suitcase. Summer is hotter and during this period the city hosts Natal Luz, while in winter the temperature in Gramado drops a lot and coats come out of the closets bringing all the charm of that time. Natal Luz is a Christmas event that takes place in Gramado every year, between November and January (specific dates vary according to each season). In this event, the city is all lit up for Christmas, in addition to several Christmas events, such as musical performances, parade of floats, theatrical shows, shows with audiovisual effects, meetings with Santa Claus and others.
